Proud Supporter: Little River Baptist Association

Little RiverThe Little River Baptist Association (LRBA) has been a Proud Supporter of The Way even before The Way opened in May 2011. It has encouraged associational churches and Christians to not only be financial partners, but also get personally involved in the ministry.

Previous Director of Missions Mike Rust and current Director of Missions Paxton Redd (pictured) have prayed for, promoted, provided personal encouragement, and been actively involved in the ministry. Both have done many daily devotions at The Way and have been blessed to see young people find a relationship with Christ Jesus.

Paxton also served on The Way’s board of directors for three years. During that time, he was a passionate advocate of helping those Jesus referred to in Matthew 25 as “the least of these.” He states: “The Lord is using The Way to reach young people for Christ who are not otherwise being reached”.

“We are proud to be a part of the Lord’s ministry at The Way,” says LRBA Ministry Assistant and Secretary Shari Littlejohn (pictured).  She has assisted The Way in a multitude of ways, including publicity, prayer, technical and administrative support, etc.

New Proud Sponsor: KaDonna Nichols

KaDonna NicholsKaDonna Nichols is no stranger to The Way. She has spent many Monday afternoons volunteering at the ministry, interacting with students and helping however she can.

Now, thanks to a generous donation, she’s become a Proud Sponsor of The Way. That’s KaDonna and Martha Davis, The Way’s fundraising coordinator, in the photo at left.

KaDonna earned her Realtor license in January and now works for RE/MAX Southern Charm. A resident of Trigg County for 25 years, she knows that this area needs a youth center like the one The Way is building.

“There’s a lack of good places in town for kids to go after school,” she explains. “The Way offers an opportunity for kids to have a place to go and receive guidance in a Christian way.” She added that The Way may be the only opportunity many of these students have to interact and develop friendships with Christian adults.

RE/MAX Southern Charm is located at 72 Lone Oak Drive in Cadiz. You can reach KaDonna at 270.350.3665 (office) or 270.350.8117 (cell).

New Proud Sponsor: Craig Stallons

Craig StallonsNew Proud Sponsor of The Way Craig Stallons was born and raised in Trigg County. He knows the temptations that face kids in this area. It’s one of the reasons he supports our ministry.

“The youth in our community need something to focus on, somewhere to go to after school,” Stallons said. “If they don’t have that, they can wander into areas and activities they don’t need to get into.”

Stallons, a member of East Cadiz Baptist Church (another sponsor of The Way) has also been a Realtor for 20 years. He appreciates what having a new, fully equipped youth center will do for this community.

“One of the first questions families ask when considering living here is about our school system,” he said. “As a Realtor, when you can go beyond that to describe after-school programs like The Way where their children can go, that’s a plus.”

Stallons is a Realtor/Broker for Coldwell Banker, 110 Merchant St., Cadiz. You can reach him at 270.522.4699 (office) or 270.339.4739 (cell).

New Proud Sponsor: Rotary Club Of Cadiz

Rotary ClubThe Rotary Club of Cadiz recently donated $27,000 to The Way for purchasing items for our youth center.

This contribution is humbling. It’s also in keeping with the club’s generosity. No organization does more than the Rotary Club of Cadiz to financially support the youth and senior citizens of Trigg County. At their most recent auction, the club raised more than a quarter million dollars to help others. We are grateful they have chosen to support our ministry, and we welcome them as another Proud Sponsor of The Way.

Pictured here with the sponsor poster are, from left to right, Rotary Club of Cadiz vice president and auction chair Travis Hamby and three volunteers from The Way – treasurer Judy Terrell, fundraising coordinator Martha Davis, and director Carl Heckmann.

The club’s much-needed donation will be put to good use. For the youth center’s gym, it will help purchase bleachers, basketballs, soccer balls, basketball goals, nets, and other supplies. For the gym’s adjoining building, monies will be used to buy flat-screen TVs, pool tables, ping-pong tables, a projector and other equipment.

The Rotary Club of Cadiz meets every Tuesday at the Johnson Tyler Community Center at 102 Lincoln Street in Cadiz. To learn more about the organization and their good works, visit www.cadizrotary.org.

New Proud Sponsor: HD Nails

HD NailsIn Cadiz, there are plenty of nail salons to choose from. However, it’s nice when a nail salon chooses you. That’s what happened to this ministry when HD Nails made a contribution to our building fund and became a Proud Sponsor of The Way.

Owners Connie and Tony Le (pictured at left), who moved here from Georgia seven years ago, believe in what The Way provides to the community.

“The Way is a good cause,” Tony explained. “We have two small boys (8-year-od Alex and 6-year-old Ashton) and we want them to have a place to go after school instead of being with kids who hang out and smoke weed or do other drugs. A new youth center will be a great place for them to go. We hope more businesses will support it.”

HD Nails is located at 63 Lakota Drive in Cadiz. According to Tony, “we can do just about anything you want to fingernails and toenails.”

The salon is open Monday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. To make an appointment, call 270.522.4043.

New Proud Sponsor: Pennyrile Board Of Realtors

Pennyrile Board of RealtorsOne of the hardest tasks for a non-profit, all-volunteer organization is fundraising. It’s difficult to ask others for money, no matter how generous they may be.

So when someone actually volunteers not only to donate money, but also time, it’s much appreciated.

Such is the case with the Pennyrile Board of Realtors. We welcome them as a Proud Sponsor of The Way.

During the first night of the Rotary auction in April, The Way served dinner to raise money for its new youth center. Not only did members of the Pennyrile Board of Realtors volunteer to help cook and serve, but they also donated a sizable amount to the cause.

Pictured here are, left to right, Sheila Sadler, Billie Farless, Tammy Warner and Mike Heffington.

The board was formed in 1976 to allow local real estate agents to bring uniformity, responsibility and high standards to the real estate business. The organization represents Realtor members in Trigg, Lyon, Caldwell and Crittenden counties. There is no central office, but you can visit their website at www.pennyrilerealtors.com or call 270.350.6666.

New Proud Sponsor: Beta Nu Chapter 4719

Nancy MooreThe Way has been blessed with contributions from individuals, businesses, churches and other organizations.  However, we’ve never received a donation from a sorority – until now.

We thank Beta Nu Chapter 4719 for becoming a Proud Sponsor of The Way.

Beta Nu is the Trigg County chapter of the international philanthropic sorority Epsilon Sigma Alpha.  This local group of dedicated women organize fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for programs and organization within our community.  They are sponsors of the annual Christmas Angel Tree and the Math-a-thon at Trigg County Elementary School, which raises funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Beta Nu also awards two annual scholarships to graduating Trigg County High School seniors. And the chapter makes annual contributions to the local Rotary Club and other worthwhile causes.

Chapter treasurer Nancy Moore, pictured here, said members voted to become a sponsor of The Way at a recent meeting.  “In our discussion,” she explained, “all members felt that, even if only one child was helped and saved through The Way, our contribution was certainly worthwhile.”

New Proud Sponsor: Goodwin Funeral Home

Goodwin Funeral Home FINALGoodwin Funeral Home has become a fixture in Trigg County. Chances are most everyone who lives here has spent time there grieving the loss of a loved one or consoling someone else.

The Way is grateful to Goodwin for its service to the community and for becoming a Proud Sponsor of The Way.

The funeral home has been family owned and operated for 70 years. It was established by A.K. Goodwin in 1946 on principles of dignity, caring and, most importantly, trust.

Those three traits were carried on through owners Chet and Martha Maxfield and now John R. Vinson III and wife Margie. (That’s John pictured with son John Mark holding one of our supporter posters.)

Besides memorial and funeral services, Goodwin provides everything from pre-need planning and grief support to pet care services.

The funeral home is located at 138 Main Street. For more information, call 522-6676.

Billy, who grew up in the Land Between the Lakes, started his business back in 1973. Today, the 83-year-old specializes in installing septic tanks, digging basements, and connecting homes to water lines.

In fact, Billy says he’s run most of the main water lines in Trigg County during the past 42 years.
