Praise the LORD for another successful "Mrs. Santa's Cookie and Candy Bazaar". The final financial figures are being calculated by the firm of Petro, Petro and Smith, but it appears we will have revenues of around $3,100 and probably a net of about $2,700. We had a couple hundred dollars of supplies and advertisements. However, as always, GOD blesses this event in many more ways that are just as or more important than the money received. These include, but are not limited to:---Bringing Churches together, across denominational lines, for a time of fellowship and celebration of the CHRISTmas season. Several participants, including Penny Wallace (Cadiz Baptist) and Phyllis McGraw (Linton Methodist) talked about how much they look forward to seeing others they may not even see again all year. Churches participating this year included: Cadiz Baptist, Cadiz Methodist, Caldwell Blue Springs, Linton Methodist, Locust Grove, Ponderosa, St. Stephen Catholic, South Union Baptist, Word of Hope Assemblies of God, Cadiz Christian, Crossroads, Mt. Pleasant Baptist, King's Chapel Church, New Hope Baptist, Trigg County Family Worship, and of course "Friends of The Way". Please forgive if I have missed anyone. ---Provided the best cookies, candies and baked goods in all of Trigg County to several hundred individuals, at a lower price than could have been obtained (or made). Once again we kept the prices at $5 per pound so everyone can enjoy, regardless of financial situation. Many people purchase for their family CHRISTmas gatherings.---It gives our students a chance to "give back" to the LORD for all HE gives them at The Way. We were again blessed to have a number of wonderful students who helped set up, carry in and display food, help serve customers, collect revenue, etc. A special thanks to students Alivia Diggs, Steven Baumann, James Michael Elliott, Alissa Garcia, and Alivia Elliot. ---We were blessed to have Trigg 4-H join us this year to sell hot chocolate and holiday items. Total revenue not known, but they sold out and blessed many before and during the parade.---Mrs. Santa's Cookie and Candy Bazaar has established itself as a traditional fixture at the annual Cadiz CHRISTmas Parade.---Best of all, the event gives an opportunity (both by word and deed) to share the love of CHRIST with those who attend. Several Churches shared information on their ministries as well.Thanks so much to Kathy Gibson (3rd year) and Marsha Petro ( 7th year?) who continued the tradition started by Sisters Martha Davis, Judy Terrell and Portia Aldridge. Judy was the first to dress "in costume" to portray Mrs. Santa. What a blessing it was to have her join us again this year after the loss of her husband and a recent fall which broke several ribs. Thanks to spouses Mike Gibson and Jan Petro who worked hard alongside Kathy and Marsha and to Ashley Garcia who was instrumental in the event. The Way is appreciative of the Trigg County Sheriff's Office and Sheriff Acree for continuing a tradition of playing The Way's Middle and High School All Stars. The tradition began with Sheriff Ray Burham around 2015 and, with the exception of a couple years, has continued; most recently Friday November 7th.Sheriff Acree and his brother Ryan (Middle School Basketball Coach) have added even more excitement in recent years, bringing in more officers and their own cheering section. More importantly, they have reached out to our students with respect as fellow athletes and hopefully "planted the seeds" that will grow future relationships. The Way appreciates and supports the efforts of law enforcement to help students understand the role of officers to "protect and serve". We have seen these games change the opinions of our students to see law enforcement as allies instead of adversaries.Throughout the history of these games, the Sheriff's Department has been very successful in game outcomes. Friday the 7th saw The Way's High School All Stars reverse the trend to handily defeat law enforcement in both games. Sheriffs did defeat the Middle School team. More importantly, both teams had a great time and exhibited exemplary sportsmanship.Thanks so much to "Team Sheriff", led by Sheriff Acree, which included Ryan Acree, Amy Santiago, Chris Beavers, Louis Armstrong, and Tucker Noel (son of Officer Joe Witherspoon).We are also very thankful to students from The Way who made playing the game a priority. These include MyKai, Andrew, Quay, Marcus, Nathan, Elijah, LaDarious, LaMarion, TJ, Dante and others.A special thanks to volunteer Luke Terrell, a student at Murray State and former Trigg County basketball standout, for driving all the way to Cadiz to coach the All-Stars. ... The Way was blessed Tuesday to be able to share the facility GOD has given us by hosting a local home school group, with many of their students and parents residents of Trigg County.The Hopkinsville Area Homeschoolers met to work together on a scrap booking project and enjoy each other's fellowship. Trigg County is so blessed to have Lighthouse Medical School. The Way is so blessed to host it. Lighthouse and its "owners Dr(s) Marie (MD) and Eric Cook have helped dozens of students, including many single Moms, get jobs and better jobs. Postponement Of Dinner TheaterDue to unforeseen circumstances beyond its control, The Way regretfully must postpone the Dinner Theater scheduled for next Friday (November 14th) and Saturday (15th) nights.
