The Way is so appreciative of Sheriff Department Officers for re-arranging their busy schedules and lives to share some quality time with our students and other players from Trigg Schools on Friday November 17th. It is so important for all students to understand that the role of Law Enforcement is to "Protect and Serve" and to view them as friends and mentors. Basketball games like this one build understanding and friendship. Members of the Sheriff's Department played three games. The first was an abbreviated game with members of the State Champion Special Olympics Team which uses The Way each year for all their practices. The second was with members of the Trigg County Middle School Basketball Team which also has players which hone their skills at The Way. The last game was the Sheriffs playing High School students from The Way. The games were highly competitive and everyone a "winner" regardless of final scores. The Way is so thankful for the over 175 students have accepted CHRIST since HE opened the doors in 2011. Twenty-four made professionals of faith last school year and six confirmed in the 23-24 school year. Countless other decisions to grow closer to CHRIST have been made as well. Each student who makes a profession for CHRIST has follow up counseling; almost always with a Church Pastor involved. Bibles, with student's names embossed, are presented (such as in pictures below). As is The Way's practice, a "Beginning Christians" class will be scheduled for early 2024. We also hope to get these new Christians, and many other students to attend "Discipleship Now", "Experiencing GOD Weekend For Teens", and Hillcrest Christian Summer Camp. Sister Katie Haley-Sumner is also working to match several of our new Christians with Spiritually mature Christian Adults as a part of The Way's "Mentoring" program. EACH one of you who have prayed for, shown CHRIST's love as a witness to, and/or provided assistance in any way are a part of the decisions being made. What a blessing to our students. What a privilege for each of us. Among the countless other things for which we Praise the LORD is with progress made on funding the new Discipleship/Education Building the LORD will use to reach so many other students and discipleship all. Including an unsold donation of grain and a pledge from a local church, we have reached the halfway mark of $225K. GOD has provided almost $60K since August. the LORD's Ministry at The Way is already beginning to "Look" and "Think" "A Lot Like CHRISTmas". Thanks so much to Shawn Davis, Kathy Gipson, GG Moore, and Sandra Williams for giving up a Wednesday morning to decorate The Way for the CHRISTmas Season. May each time we look at a decoration, may we remember the "Reason For The Season" ---JESUS the CHRIST, and how much HIS Birth has brightened, beautified, made our lives more joyous, and given us assurance of eternal life in HIM!!. Thank you for your continued support of the LORD's ministry at The Way. The LORD is honoring the prayers, kindness and support of you and your Churches by making a positive difference in the lives of students, many for eternity; including 7 this school year. Once again, we humbly ask you to let your congregations know about The Way's annual Cookie and Candy Bazaar to be held at the Cadiz Baptist Annex (Thank You, CBC) before the Cadiz CHRISTmas Parade on Saturday 2 December. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED FLYER. As always, we would so appreciate any cookies, candies, confectionaries, baked goods (bread, pies, cakes, etc) and other items your great cooks feel led to donate for the sale. First, please take 30 seconds to listen to the advertisement recorded by Jennie Watts,(who has attended The Way for several years and taken guitar from Marc Thomas and Bruce Grace), and her father, Alan Watts, WKDZ Radio personality. The building fund is growing slowly but surely, and we are approaching the $200K mark of the almost $450K needed. Only 3 months ago we were at least than $170K. The overall campaign is gaining synergy, and we are beginning to see additional donations as the community becomes more aware of need and end of tax year approaches. You will shortly see additional ads specifically for the new building. Also, we are working on several grant requests which hopefully will become a reality in early 2024. Please continue to pray and tell others.I have failed to get Sister Ann information on monthly calendar. Two things this week.---We will close at 5 PM on Thursday in order for Trigg Schools to host a "Parent Cafe" at The Way from 5:30-6:30 PM. Three major fund raisers in just over a month has been a challenge, but The Way is blessed with so many wonderful Christian volunteers and supporters that GOD used to raise approximately $16,000 towards the new building. So many to thank for the successful fish fry. Just a few include:Ann Prince who had the idea, got the ball rolling, somehow got a great band to donation a concert, provided decorations and expended too much of her own resources to make the event successful.Greta Smith and Cammie Evans,, who aided Ann throughout the planning, did a great job of organizing processes on the day of fish fry. They worked so hard!! Also, Martha Davis who helped with making the dining area look beautiful and Kathy Gibson, truly one of the unsung heroes at The Way.Shawn Davis, also on The Way's fund-raising committee, was a vital part of planning and advertising. He designed the flyer and posted it in approximately 40 business locations. He provided tremendous energy during the sale.South Union Baptist Church including Pastor Daniel Colley and wife Julie and John Bryant and wife who along with Danny Smith and Mike Gibson provided cookers and cooked over 100 pounds of fish and enough fries and hush puppies for almost 300 people.Fish donors ------South Union, Gary Lambert Pastor of Hurricane Baptist Church, Cadiz Church of Christ (the Wests) and Kurt Vezner,Rewind Band ------WoW!!!! Can't believe they donated their time because of friendships with Ann, Greta and others.Alex Smith who led us in the Pledge of Allegiance..Danny Smith and Linda Cook who led us in singing "GOD Bless America".Soooooooooo many great volunteers who worked so hard to set up, cook, bring desserts. Some of them are in the photos below (thanks to Ken Traub for photos.). I had intended to take many more to include the Band, diners, baked sale items, those that collected money, etc. Having 100 people come in when we started serving overcome that intent. Below are a few pictures which hopefully represent the "atmosphere" and participants in a truly wonderful production of "Murder On The Myster", Directed by Erika Steip, with assistance by Portia Aldridge, long time Director of "Southern Kentucky Independent Theater" (SKIT) 'Group.WKDZ requested pictures tonight for tomorrow (Monday) posting, so quickly pulled together tonight --thanks to photos from Matt Shown, Erika and Greg Trawick, Priest/Pastor of St. Stephen's Catholic Church. These will be forwarded to the Cadiz Record as well. We Praise the LORD for this successful event ---both in terms of fund raising and publicity for The Way.Tickets for each night were sold out (60) with approximately 170 people attending. Thanks to ticket sales plus donations of over $1,000, net profit should approximate $2500. All proceeds will go towards the construction of a new Discipleship/Education which will benefit the youth of Trigg County for decades and the KINGDOM for eternity.Thanks so much to all those who made this experience so special. ...
