Proud Sponsor: Ace Hardware

Ace HardwareTo call Ace Hardware a Proud Sponsor of The Way would be accurate. To refer to it as a “new” sponsor would be far from the truth.

In fact, the business was supporting The Way even before the Lord opened the ministry’s doors in May 2011.

At that time, it was known as Cadiz Hardware.  Owner Bob Brame (pictured here with daughter Ginger) and his family donated the paint and other supplies needed to fix up the former store building which served as The Way’s original home.

Since then, Bob and Ace Hardware have supported The Way in a variety of ways:  prayer, financial donations, assistance with navigating zoning regulations, even guidance on requesting loans.

Bob and his staff specialize in knowledgeable, personalized service.  Ace Hardware offers building materials and supplies, lumber, cleaning supplies, doors of all kinds, fans, hand tools, power tools, air tools, lighting and lighting fixtures, pet supplies, paint and painting supplies, windows, screens, even work clothes and gloves.

Ace Hardware is located at 1654 Main Street. You can reach them at (270) 522-1122.

Proud Sponsor: Bethel United Methodist Church

Kenny RogersKenny Rogers is a busy man.  Once he finishes his 9 a.m. sermon at Linton United Methodist Church, he and wife Betty drive to Bethel United Methodist Church for his 11:00 a.m. sermon.

Not only do both churches share a pastor, but they both consistently financially support this ministry. We are honored to have Bethel United Methodist Church as a Proud Sponsor of The Way.  (For information about Linton United Methodist Church, see story below).

“Our churches believe that The Way provides the youth of our community a safe environment to have some fun and food and at the same time experience the love and grace that God offers,” Brother Kenny explains. “This is the reason both our churches decided years ago to support The Way. We made this decision based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Word of God.”

It is generally accepted that Bethel is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, Methodist organizations in Trigg County.  Records show that it was established years before Trigg County was created in 1820.  According to western Kentucky history, an early Methodist class was organized on Bird’s Creek, where a log house of worship was built and used for many years.

Around 1888, a larger frame structure was erected a short distance from the old church and beside Bethel Cemetery. In 1968, the church was remodeled, adding a full basement for Sunday School rooms, new pews, lectern, pulpit chairs, communion table and carpeting for the sanctuary, and stained glass windows and brick veneer.

Proud Sponsor: Linton United Methodist Church

Kenny RogersKenny Rogers became pastor of Linton United Methodist Church in 2006.  It’s never been the same since.

Not only has the church grown steadily during his 10 years there, but it’s also steadily committed resources to The Way. So while it may not necessarily be a “new” sponsor, Linton United Methodist certainly is a Proud Sponsor of The Way.

“I believe The Way is a great opportunity for individuals and churches to minister to the youth of Trigg County and connect to their families,” Brother Kenny says.

Linton United Episcopal Church South was organized in 1867 by Rev. Thomas Randolf.  Meetings were held in a tobacco warehouse for two years until a house of worship was erected, which was used for a church and school. Construction on an actual church was completed in 1884.

The creation of Barkley Lake forced the one-room congregation to relocate.  A new church was built by Woodruff Lumber Company is what is now Linton. Its first service was held on August 19, 1963.

In May 1996, ground was broken to create a larger fellowship hall, kitchen, bathrooms and two more Sunday School rooms. It was completed and dedicated a year later.

Today, Linton United Methodist is literally outgrowing its confines. Construction has begun to widen the sanctuary, expand the kitchen area and make other improvements.

The church is located at 6464 Linton Road.  Sunday morning service starts at 9:00 a.m. It’s followed by fellowship time in the kitchen, and then Sunday School starts at 10:30 a.m.
