New Proud Sponsor: Stallons Auto Sales

STALLONS AUTOSome people say you should never trust a used car salesman.  Lance Stallons has spent much of his life proving them wrong.

It’s one of the many reasons why The Way is pleased to welcome Stallons Auto Sales as a Proud Sponsor of The Way.

“The Way is a great help to the youth in our community,” Lance said. “We are glad to support The Way and would encourage others to do so.”

Lance has spent most of his life around cars. As a boy, he helped his father Jimmy wash them.  He later spent nearly seven years at a new car franchise. In 1995, he and his father Jimmy opened Stallons Auto Sales at 1944 W. 7th St. in Hopkinsville. The dealership specializes in quality used cars, fair prices and excellent customer service.

Lance and his wife Angie are Trigg County natives. The attend New Hope Baptist Church, where Lance serves as deacon and music leader.

Proud New Sponsor: Emmanuel Bible Church

EMMANEUL BIBLE CHURCHFew pastors in the area have led the same church for 32 years. Brother Daniel Swartz, pastor of Emmanuel Bible Church in Cadiz, holds that rare distinction.

And his church now holds the distinction of being the latest Proud Sponsor of The Way.

Emmanuel Bible Church was started in 1982 by local families who felt the need for a Trigg County church that emphasized the systematic teaching of God’s Word.  In January 1983 the church was officially charged with the name Logos Christian Fellowship Church. Later that year, they called Daniel Swartz to be their full-time pastor.

In the 1990s, the church underwent two significant changes.  It changed its name to the present one in April 1996.  In August of that year, the church – which had been meeting in an American Legion building – hired an architect to design a new sanctuary.  The present sanctuary and foyer were completed in October 1998.

Emmanuel Bible Church is located at 2887 Hopkinsville Road in Cadiz.  Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m., followed by worship services at 10:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Sunday.

New Proud Sponsor: Canton Baptist Church

Canton Baptist ChurchOne of the first churches in Trigg County to bless The Way financially on a monthly basis was Canton Baptist Church. We’re honored to call them a Proud Supporter of The Way.

“Canton Baptist Church is grateful to participate in the ministry of The Way,” said Interim Pastor Larry Baker. “We pray that God will use this ministry mightily in reaching the youth in Trigg County for Christ and providing them with wholesome activity while pointing them to the local church.”

Canton Baptist has served Trigg County since 1855. In 1930, it reorganized and reopened an old community church building that had been obtained from the Methodists and Presbyterians who had abandoned it. In 1988, the church began building the facility where it worships today.

The church’s slogan is: “Teaching The Word, Doing The Work: People Reaching People For Christ.” Two Canton Baptist members who embody that message are Richard and Vonnie Holsapple, pictured at left with Pastor Baker. Richard and Vonnie are volunteers at The Way, and we greatly appreciate their participation.

Canton Baptist Church is located at 423 Boyds Landing Road in Cadiz.  It holds an early service at 9:00 a.m. Sunday and a late service at 11:00 a.m., with Sunday School at 10:00 a.m.  Sunday evening service is 6:00 p.m., and there’s a Wednesday prayer and Bible study starting at 6:00 p.m.

New Proud Sponsor: Oak Grove Baptist Church

Oak Grove BC - Larry Wilson, interim pastorOak Grove Baptist Church has supported The Way since the ministry’s beginning in 2011.  It now supports The Way’s building fund, which makes it officially a Proud Sponsor of The Way.

“The Way is a good home mission project for our youth,” said Brother Larry Wilson, current interim pastor.

Oak Grove member Martha Davis is one of the hardest-working volunteers at The Way.  She’s not only a member of the board of directors and a weekly volunteer at the youth center, but she’s also co-chair of The Way’s fundraising efforts for a new building.

The church began when a group of Baptists in the Oak Grove community began meeting for worship in a grove near its present location. This group reportedly used the Guier Schoolhouse until a church was erected in 1875 on land donated by Stanley Thomas and Humphrey Lawrence.

A new house of worship was built in 1904, with the current sanctuary being erected in 1973.

Oak Grove Baptist Church is located at 45 Floyd Sumner Road in Cadiz.   Sunday School is at 9:00 a.m. and morning worship at 10:00 a.m.

New Proud Sponsor: Ponderosa Baptist Church

PONDEROSA BAPTISTPonderosa Baptist Church was one of the earliest Proud Sponsors of The Way. It was one of two churches to partner with us when this ministry began in 2011.  Today, the church continues to support The Way with prayers, participation and financial contributions.

David Underhill (center) and his wife Beverly were original members of The Way’s board of directors. Sonny Black helped establish our information technology capabilities. Jerry Schissler (right), with assistance from his wife Ann, is the project manager for building our new facility.

And Pastor Norman Cotton (left), a former youth minister with a heart for reach young people for Christ, leads a church group who comes to The Way once a month to provide a gospel message, bring refreshments, and interact with the students.

The Way thanks the Lord for the kindness and generosity of Ponderosa Baptist Church. We’re proud to be yokefellows with them in serving Jesus Christ.

The church is located at 6283 Rockcastle Road in Cadiz.  Sunday School starts at 9:00 a.m. Worship services are at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Proud New Sponsor: Trigg County Realty

Ronnie ClarkRonnie Clark grew up in Trigg County.  He raised his three children here.  He understands how important The Way’s new youth center will be for the kids in this area.

That’s why Ronnie made his business – Trigg County Realty – the latest Proud New Sponsor of The Way.

“The Way is a good thing for the youth,” Ronnie observed. “We need something to keep our youth busy, something with a good influence.”

An avid hunter and fisherman, Ronnie is a member of the Cadiz-Trigg County Chamber of Commerce. He’s also been a member of New Hope Baptist Church for 40 years.

Ronnie owns and operates several farms in the area, which may explain why farms are a specialty with Trigg County Realty.  The firm also offers free market analyses to its clients.

Few if any people know Trigg County real estate better than Ronnie.  And one piece of property he no doubt will be watching during the year will be 197 Lafayette – future home of The Way.

New Proud Sponsor: Hancock’s Neighborhood Market

Hancock's Neighborhood MarketMallory Lawrence owns and manages Hancock’s Neighborhood Market. And as anyone who lives in Trigg County knows, no one is a bigger supporter of “neighborhood” than Mallory.

That’s why we’re pleased to announce Hancock’s as the latest Proud Sponsor of The Way.

Mallory’s backing of The Way goes far beyond monetary contributions. She served on one of the ministry’s first fundraising committees, providing invaluable insights. Last year she sponsored and hosted a major fundraising event at her market.  Her involvement is based on her understanding of the community’s need for a youth center.

“I believe in The Way and what it does for our youth,” Mallory says. “It helps give youth a place to go after school and keep them off the streets. They hear Christian devotions. Many do not attend churches. Trigg County needs this youth center.”

Mallory’s parents opened the supermarket in Cadiz in December 1991, putting their daughter in charge as manager. During the past quarter-decade, they have expanded every department in the store and grown their number of employees from 15 to approximately 50 full- and part-time workers.

Mallory purchased the business from her parents in April 2009. Today, Hancock’s prides itself on attentive customer service, friendly employees, quality meats and produce, a fully-stocked deli, and delivery service for those who can’t shop for themselves.
