Christian based American Heritage Girls (AHG), and its counterpart for young men Trail Life (TL) USA, are arguably one of the best Christian discipleship programs in existence ----GOD, Family, County, and Character. Programs like AHG and TL for students provide Christians strength for the present and hope for the future –of Christianity in our World, Nation, Commonwealth and County. We owe a debt of gratitude to AHG Troop 0146 Troop Coordinator, Christi Riggs, and TL Coordinator, Lloyd Renfro, and those who serve with them including Julie Wadlington, Shelley Crawford, Samantha Ezell, Katie Haley, Amanda Oliver, Chad Gilliland, Justin and Alison Ramey, Jessica Cathey, Sandy Finley, William Oliver, and others (please forgive any not mentioned) for their sacrificial service to help mold todays youth into GODly men and women leaders of tomorrow. Below are pictures of the AHG Awards Ceremony held on Tuesday Evening January 24th at The Way. As with everything connected to the AHG program, the ceremony was exceptional, wonderfully organized and well attended. Almost 30 of the 40 plus young ladies enrolled in the program participated in the ceremony. Troop Leaders and Parents brought in a sumptuous meal for the enjoyment of deserving students and their many family members who came to celebrate with them. The whole evening could not have been better. This was not the first AHG Troop 0146 (After John 14:6) Awards Ceremony and there will be others to celebrate and write about before CHRIST’s return. However, The Way, which is blessed to host and assist these wonderful Faith based scouting programs, would like to pay homage to a wonderful Christian woman who has been instrumental in the establishment of AHG Troop 0146 in Trigg County. Christi Riggs, who was an AHG Troop Coordinator in North Carolina, in early 2021 upon learning of the vision to start a local Chapter, immediately agreed to lead the effort and, as is her character, enthusiastically and energetically dedicated herself to its implementation and success. GOD richly blessed her efforts (and those of Bro. Lloyd Renfroe, her TL counterpart) in both troop and leader numbers , but in solid organization, hundreds of troop accomplishments, troop outings, obtaining of equipment, etc. Sadly, she has moved to Indiana to support the career of her husband Lyle. For the past several months she has been leading AHG (with the help of the Christian woman listed above) from the Hoosier State, making numerous trips to Cadiz. Please join us in praying for a “successor” (NOTE: did not say “replacement”, because no one can “replace” her.) Christi’s contributions to the community, especially it’s youth, are well know in Western Kentucky. Since moving to Trigg in October of 2016, she has been actively engaged in: Trigg School system (Girls Cross Country Coach and Substitute Teacher); Liberty Point Church, (which assists with the “Prom Dress” Ministry she started and with which has blessed so many); The Way Christian Youth Center as a volunteer and Instructor of a “Financial Peace For Teens” Coursef; and many more endeavors. We all Praise GOD for Christi and Lyle, owe them a debt of gratitude, and wish them GOD’s blessings in all things. The Way is so grateful to GOD for one of it’s newest Church partners. Last Friday night was their second time to provide food and they were spectacular! It was especially great that so many of their members, led by Pastor Brandon Boone and Youth and Community Outreach Minister Kamarr Richee!!!! The food they supplied was wonderful and even more fantastic was their interaction with the students ----all encouraging youth while serving food, Brandon and Kamarr playing pool, Julia and Pat leading bingo, etc. and Bro(s) Guess and Graves providing oversight. It was a Great Night!!!! (Please forgive if I am incorrect on anything) Edgewood, Bro. Marc Frye’s home church, has been such a blessing to The Way since early 2022. They brought a group to support the “Experiencing GOD Weekend For Teens” we hosted in January and invited us to attend Jonathan Creek with them in April and a “Discipleship Now DNOW” weekend in November at their location. The LORD’s Ministry at The Way is so blessed of GOD to have so many wonderful supporting Christian Churches and Christian owned businesses, which want to see students seek, find, and grow in CHRIST JESUS. These Churches and organizations covenant to either provide food one afternoon each month; either for 80-90 students or to partner with other Churches to feed 40-45 students. Friday Night, January 27th was a wonderful example not only of Churches teaming together to provide meals to hungry students (and often their families), but their members stayed to build relationships, recreate with, and monitor students. They not only stayed until closing time (6 PM), but several remained for a presentation by Alpha Alternative on “Sanctity of Life” and “Maintaining Purity Before Marriage”. Refuge Church, our newest supporter, joined with Revival Church to minister to and provide food for approximately 75 students. Kentucky Machine And Engineering (KME) has a long (at least 4 decades) history of helping the Youth of Trigg County Kentucky. Starting with the founders and CEO of KME, the late Bro. Chappel Allen and his lovely wife Karen, they have gone way beyond “generous” in donating to almost every youth activity in the County (and probably elsewhere). School athletic and academic programs, Church ministries, children’s sports leagues, UPWARD basketball, etc. etc. have been greatly benefitted by the generosity of KME and the Allen Family. They have been especially kind to The Way since the LORD opened our doors in 2011 helping in a variety of ways including prayers, food, finances and needed equipment. The Way is so thankful to all the wonderful Christian Churches, Businesses and Organizations which provide sustenance to students each month. For many Youth at The Way what they provide is the evening meal for our students. If any food remains, it is sent home with students to their families. We can not say “thank you” enough for their love and sacrifice in sharing the love of CHRIST in word and deed. Friends of The WayIf you are considering any additional charitable donations for 2022 year end or 2023 tax deductions, please consider The Way Christian Youth Ministries of Trigg County Kentucky, INC. Those of you who are familiar with The Way know the difference GOD has made in the lives of students; many for eternity (150 since 2011 and over 20 this school year) for eternity. The Way is endeavoring to construct a 3,500 square foot Discipleship/Education building and estimates needing approximately $300K more to reach the $450K projected cost. More than 70 students at The Way enjoyed a Fantastic Holiday Meal of Turkey, Ham, Dressing and Gravy, Corn Pudding, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Cranberry Sauce, Rolls, and a variety of delicious desserts. Following the meal, students were blessed to participate in a presentation/devotion by the local chapter of the “Sons Of The American Revolution (SAR)” led by Steve Mallory of Crossroads Church. Martha Davis, who led the planning and coordinating of the meal was unable to attend due to illness, but Katie Sumner and Greta Smith filled in admirably and were assisted by a fantastic team of wonderful cooks and servers including Toni Thomas, JoAnn Rose, Theresa Miller, Holly Fuller, Lewis Sumner, Sandra Williams, Ruby Martin, Amanda and Bill Oliver, Joan Heckmann, Jackie Brown, Emma Duseanek, Matt Shown, Jerry Brown, Mike Bryan, Marsha and Jan Petro, and others. A Special thanks to Crossroads Baptist Church and Pastor Matt Shown for funding much of the meal and to the Kitchen Staff of Hancock’s Neighborhood Market for the preparation. Praises to the LORD and thanks to so many for a wonderful, fun, and successful “Cookie and Candy” Bazaar. Receipts on the sale were approximately $2950, which is Absolutely Great and will wonderfully bless students and their families!!! However, the dollar amount still comes in a distant second to the sales witness to our community of how Christians join together to show CHRIST’s Love in Word and Deed. You do so by sacrificially volunteering your time and resources to make a positive difference in the lives of students and their families. Each year “Mrs. Santa’s Cookie and Candy Bazaar” brings together wonderful people (and cooks 😊), from many different Christian denominations, who enjoy serving the LORD and helping others. The fellowship enjoyed as well as the cookies, candies and baked goods are the best Cadiz Kentucky has to offer and second to none anywhere. THANKS SO MUCH TO CADIZ BAPTIST CHURCH FOR ALLOWING THE WAY TO USE THEIR ANNEX FOR THE COOKIE AND CANDY BAZAAR.
