Sisters and Brothers in CHRIST,Praise the LORD for a very successful "Mrs. Santa's Cookie and Candy Bazaar" fund raiser!!!! The LORD gave us over $4700 in net revenue. It was financially our best bazaar ever. Proceeds went towards completing funding for the new Discipleship/Education Building currently under construction and scheduled for completion in the spring of 2025.. Praise the LORD even more for what the event has come to mean to our community. Mrs. Santa's Cookie and Candy Bazaar is much more than a fund raiser. The Bazaar has become an event that people look forward to each year as an integral part of CHRISTmas parade day downtown. It never ceases to amaze us how people talk about it year long.The Bazaar is an opportunity for some of Trigg County's best bakers to bring their finest goods, not only to help raise money for youth ministry, but as a sacrificial offering to GOD. This year for the first time, several parents of students at The Way donated baked goods as a way of giving something back to a ministry that provides their youth a free safe and secure place to go after school for fun, food, education, and worship. Several students volunteered their time developing their customer service skills by performing various tasks throughout the dayThe Bazaar in an inexpensive way for Trigg Countians (and others) to purchase from arguably the widest variety of baked goods (cookies, candies, bread, cakes, etc.) at a price that often doesn't cover the ingredients. The Bazaar gives children a chance to spend extra time with Santa, who may not look as realistic as the Parade Santa, but almost guarantees a successful "photo op".Last, but certainly not least, the Bazaar pulls together Christians, from almost all denominations, to enjoy fellowship and work together for the common cause of sharing the love of CHRIST, in word and deed with all those who enter the Cadiz Baptist Annex. There are so many to thank for the success of the 10th Mrs. Santa's Cookie and Candy Bazaar. Thanks to Cadiz Baptist Church for allowing The Way to use it's facility pro bono each year. It is one of the many ways Cadiz Baptist has blessed The Way since the LORD opened HIS Youth Ministry in May of 2011.Thanks to Martha Davis and Judy Terrell (the first "Mrs. Santa") for starting the Bazaar. There were so many cookies left and they orchestrated efforts to distribute them in Cadiz to first responders, senior adult care facilities, hospital staff, etc. Thanks to Marsha Petro who has managed the event for the past several years and to those who have assisted her over the years i.e. Rosalee Gutmann, Amanda Oliver, Betty Kilman and others; especially Kathy Gibson who was nothing short of amazing this year!!! Marsha has done a tremendous job of not only organizing the event, but getting The Way students involved, from making cookies to volunteering the day of the bazaar. The Way is so honored to allow Lighthouse Medical School to use our facility two nights per week.Lighthouse is more than a medical school for Doctor(s) Cook ---Marie (MD) and Eric (Chaplaincy). It is a Ministry!!!! Thanks to their kindness, with a little "rent free" help from The Way, Lighthouse charges only a fraction of what other schools do. This has allowed many students to graduate and find jobs, obtain promotions, or often both.Lighthouse Medical School not only trains students but facilitates and proctors testing and helps students find internships and jobs which are life changing to them and their families. Very importantly, they also share the love of CHRIST in word and deed with each student.Since 2018, Lighthouse has graduated 85 students from their medical training program at The Way -----70 Medical Assistants, 2 EKG Technicians, 5 Phlebotomy Technicians, 1 Medical Biller, and 7 Pre Med-Technicians. The Way's annual Dinner Theater, this year "Murder At The Banquet", was a huge success!!! Both performances (November 8th and 9th), were sold out, the acting was superb, the meal delicious, and the fellowship among Trigg Countians and friends unsurpassed. All proceeds from the event went towards construction of The Way's new Discipleship/Education building adjacent to the main facility. The facility will provide dedicated classrooms for: Christian, secular, and job skills training; a venue for faith based/family movies; programs for younger students not currently served by The Way; a youth oriented Christian Library for local Churches as well as The Way; prayer room; mentoring and counseling location, and much more. VOLUNTEER NEEDS. We are trying to have arts and craft activities each day. We have 8 or more students each day who will productively participate IF we have adults who will give up at least one day per month, from 4-5 PM. This time can be an especially fruitful opportunity to share CHRIST''s love. Volunteers do not have to be extremely talented. Activity options are almost limitless including drawing/coloring contests, making bracelets, crafting greeting cards for shut ins, military and others, and even fingernail painting and facials. Penny Mitchell does this as a ministry every Monday and we have commitments to do at least one Thursday each month from Eric and Marie Cook and Suzy Cox. We need volunteers for Tuesdays and Fridays. The Way is so proud of our sponsorship of/association with two outstanding Faith based scouting programs ----American Heritage Girls and Trail Life USA Boys. These programs are truly "GOD, Family, Country, and Character". Both Programs have great leadership and are growing. AHG Leaders include Dana Dodson, Sandra Finley, Katie Haley, Diane Duggins and others. Trail Life Leaders include Lance Gilliand, Josh Pryor, Justin Ramey, Gene Oller and Matthew Clark.The Way is very grateful to both programs for their assistance with its recent yard sale. It was amazing to see leaders, students and family members there from Thursday through Saturday to help with all aspects of the sale.
